Calm before the storm....last day in the office before a Holiday weekend...True or Yes?

Hands down the most unproductive days in the corporate world is any day before a holiday weekend. The amount of “cubicle mingling” is at an all time high because you have the excuse of asking people what there doing for the weekend.

"Oh, you're going to your in-laws house in Maine, how wonderful."

Then you talk about what you're doing, yes I am excited for my block party, when in reality neither of the parties care. Everyone is just trying to make it through. The first hurdle is knocking out whatever little work you're actually going to do. That takes about twenty minutes, and then you delegate the rest to someone else. Then you go to lunch, where you can start celebrating at the local watering hole with your office buddies, knock a couple back.

Last but not least, the final stretch till dismissal. This portion of the day consists of you sitting at your desk, looking at the clock on your computer screen at least four times every ten minutes, and re organizing your entire email inbox to make it look like your still being semi-productive.

Then when its time to leave you completely lose it. The freedom sinks in and you get in your car and floor it, maybe even letting out some sort of scream as you drive away from your office and look back only to go “Johnny Gestures” and give your building, colleagues, and that weird security guard the bird.

So enjoy it while it lasts, CubeMonkeys, because Tuesday is right around the corner.
