So it was a dark and gloomy Tuesday, most of the day was overcast, a lite mist falling from the fall sky. I was headed to UBS Arena to watch the New York Islanders take on the Anaheim Ducks. Using this hockey game as a distraction to ignore the possibility of the Yankees being swept in the World Series. To my dismay, the Islanders went down 1-0 and I decided to head over to the bar in the suite level (not a big deal), to order a free Coors light. First few sips of that light pilsner went down like nails. I went back to the bar to get a hearty glass of red wine, and witnessed what was the funniest thing I've seen some ginny Yankee fan ever do.
The effort this guy gave to battle Mookie for this ball with his triple chin and potential 3/4 sleeve shirt. This created life in the Yankees offense.
That’s because of Anthony Volpe’s first postseason homer was, at last, the hit for which these Yankees have been starved all week -- a grand slam off Dodgers reliever Daniel Hudson that sent New York on its way to an 11-4 victory in Game 4. The homer gave New York new life in an elimination game (Los Angeles leads the best-of-seven Series, 3-1) and also marked the sixth grand slam overall this postseason, an MLB record.
Austin Wells who has struggled mightily also had a great night at the dish with a double and a solo homerun. Gleyber Torres put the game away with an 8th in 3 run home run, in which Judge had an RBI single leading to an 5 run 8th inning for the Yankees.
The "wiry jungle cat", Luke Weaver came in early in the bottom of the 7th with 2 outs and shut down the heart of the Dodgers with an inning and a third of shut down work from the bullpen.
The Dodgers lead the Series, 3-1, and the odds they cap off this season with their eighth championship in franchise history remains very high. But the Yankees will hand it off to ace Gerrit Cole in Game 5 on Wednesday night, with hopes of pushing the series back to Los Angeles.
Tomorrow is a game that it's Gerrit Cole against LA. Boone doesnt have to over think it, you live and die with your ace. The offense has found some life, and you just survive and advance.
