Notable Cut Line and Missed Cuts:
The cut line was established at +2, with 53 players advancing to the weekend.
Notable players missing the cut include Bernhard Langer, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickelson, and Sergio García.
The tournament continues to be highly competitive, with several players within striking distance of the lead.
One of the main storylines of the weekend besides past winners and LIV golfers missing the cut, was Max Homa.
Max Homa is playing the weekend. After five missed cuts in eight events this season, Homa found his form on Friday, carding a second-round 70 in the second round of the 2025 Masters. He’ll enter the weekend at even par.
“This has not been fun at all,” Homa said of his 2025 results. “I know I'm only even and whatever, eight back (of Justin Rose), but it does feel good to not beat myself out here.”
In addition to his five missed cuts, Homa’s other three events included a W/D, a T-53 and a T-26. Now, after a T-3 finish at the 2024 Masters, he’s looking to recreate magic this weekend.
“Just the old adage, tough times don't last — tough people do,” Homa said.
After 27 holes, Homa was flirting with the cutline at 2-over, before playing Friday’s final nine in 34 shots. He birdied Nos. 13 and 15, while getting up-and-down to salvage par on 16.
“It was clearly on my mind,” Homa said of the cut. “I haven't played a weekend in a couple months. It was kind of fun to battle that.”
Homa has a new caddie in tow this week, as Bill Harke has taken over for long-time looper and childhood friend Joe Greiner. The split became public eight days ago. Greiner has been on Justin Thomas' bag this week.
