The Philly Special

As the Houston Astros, who I wasn’t rooting for (shoutout to Uncle Dusty), became world champions last night, it hit me…Philly teams are doomed this year.

Let’s start with the Phillies who had a great year. Making the World Series when a lot of people had the Braves or Dodgers representing the National League. Don’t tell anyone but the Phillies went up 2-1 in the World Series after they won game 3, 7-0.  They never won another game. Game 4 is when everything changed. They were shut out at home, like a husband coming back after midnight.

On to the Flyers. While I don’t follow much of the hockey I can bet my bottom dollar, the Flyers aren’t making the playoffs this year. They haven’t made it the last two seasons and even if they do, they have one playoff series win over the last 10 years. Stick a fork in em’.

Next! My beloved Sixers. I’ll cut to the chase. The Sixers will win one playoff series and get smoked in the second round by someone like Boston or a team they should beat like Cleveland. Doc Rivers will be fired and for the first time, the Philly crowd will turn on Joel Embiid. They, not me lol, will say he’s always hurt, sick or out of shape. They’ve tried several different rosters and two different coaches. They will question if you can win a championship if your best player is a center.

Last but not least, The Eagles. Turn your heads Eagles’ fans. The birds are flying high, as they are the last undefeated team this season. When you take a look at their schedule a 14-3 or 15-2 record is very possible. This will give them a first round bye, high expectations and a ton of pressure. Lincoln Financial Field will be rocking! The fans will be loaded off Yuengling’s and cheese steaks. Meek Mill will have just finished performing “Dreams and Nightmares”.  And then it will happen…someone like The Cowboys or 49ers will roll into town and pluck their feathers igniting the “is Hurts the guy” questions all over again. Fly, Eagles Fly!

Well, I had to finally pick myself off the couch and walk 7 steps into the bed and collect my thoughts about this game. I have been giddy...
