The New York Jets flew all the way across the pond to London to lose their second game in a row, falling 17-23 to the undefeated Minnesota Vikings.
For those who may have forgotten to set their alarm clocks this morning; here’s a quick breakdown of the Jets offense this morning:
Gang Green’s offensive line got whooped all game. Rodgers took a beaten and for another week there was no holes for Breece Hall to hit. Rest in peace to anyone who started Hall in fantasy these last two weeks. He’s combined for roughly 4 points over that time.
Three interceptions were thrown from Rodgers which is very not like him. Aaron has been one of the stingiest with interceptions over his career. He has the best touchdown-to-interception ratio in NFL history, with 4.52 touchdowns for every interception. His career interception percentage is 1.4%, which is also the lowest in the league.
Rodgers had 54 pass attempts. This is concerning. I understand the Jets were playing from behind most of the game but I think this speaks to the lack of identity for the offense. After running the ball on 3rd and 4th down earlier in the game and failing to pick up a first down, the Jets seemingly abandoned the run completely and became one-dimensional. The threat of a run was nonexistent, even when the game was within one possession. Free Breece, Free Braelon.
When did the Jets offense become solely “throw to Garrett Wilson, Allen Lazard, back to Wilson”? Rodgers targeted Wilson…wait for it…22 times! He also threw to Lazard 10 times. Lastly, Mike Williams has no chemistry with Rodgers. The former Charger didn’t even think to look back for the ball on the final pass, that lead to a Stephon Gilmore game ending interception. (FYI, Gilmore, a former Defensive Player Of The Year was available very late in the offseason, as numerous teams passed on the veteran cornerback.)
The 2-3 Jets need to call DeVante tonight.
