Stream Or Skip: @Netflix "Full Swing"

As we have seen over the last few years Netflix has been getting into the documentary game, especially in the sports world. Last Tuesday, the newest documentary to hit the streaming service was Full Swing, which covered the last season of the #PGATour and newest golf league and possible rival, the #LIVTour.

As a hardcore and active golf fan, I enjoyed this series. It is a quick and easy watch, with a new perspective from a lot of the fan favorite across the golf world. A lot of this was moments on tour I already watched live, like Justin Thomas winning the PGA Champsionship, or Scottie Scheffler rise to world ranking #1.

The fact is, the golf fan isn’t the target audience, this is focused on welcoming a new audience to the game and I sincerely hope it succeeds to do for golf what “Drive to Survive” has done for Formula One. I will give it my recommendation to definitely stream it, but I felt like I had more issues with it, than things I enjoyed.

I wish it was a like more edgier, I would've liked to see Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, and Ian Poulter as some of the bad boys of golf for joining the #LIVTour. I also felt as if this entire series may have been an advertisement for NetJets or WheelsUp, because professional golfers apparently always fly private (sick brag).

Some of the winners and highlights of this series. Justin Thomas' Dad. Joel Dahmen and his caddie/best friend Geno Bonnalie. Father/Family man of the year, Tony Finau. Max Homa and Rickie Fowler cameos. Brooks Koepka's honesty and opening up on his performance and decline the last few years. Last episode centered around Rory.

Losers of this series. Does Collin Morikawa have no personality? Rookies Sahith Theegala & Mito Pereira, nice to be included, felt like their episode was boring and dragged. The fact that it was 4/5 total events across 8 episodes, just from a million different perspectives.

Overall, a good but not great watch. They have already started filming Season 2 at the Phoenix Open. I would expect them to have different cast it is centered around, and hopefully not 5 point of views of the same 3 events.

Brooks "Blake" Koepka seemed to get a lot of mixed review on his episode during this, saying it was depressing. You can tell he still has the competitive edge and wants to winner, but due to injuries and the rehab process the last few seasons have been difficult. It is hard to be sad when you sign a multi-million dollar deal with LIV, his house is fucking sick, and his wife is a smoke. Sup Jena? Brooks can also pull off dying his hair blonde, if you've been reading, thats a running trend here.
