Tonight Russell Westbrook III was traded to his fifth team in five seasons. In yes a Russell for Russell swap. The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to a deal to bring in Minnesota's D'Angelo Russell, Malik Beasley and Jarred Vanderbilt in a three-team trade also involving the Utah Jazz, who are receiving Westbrook, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Russ who grew to become one of my all-time favorites is far removed from his MVP season. Far removed from being the first player to average a triple double in a season since Oscar Robertson.
While I’m not writing off the future hall of famer from being a contributing player on a team I’m not liking what I see. I no longer think Westbrook can be a top 3 option on a championship team. And it’s not all about his play on the court.
I don’t like the body language I’m seeing from him and I don’t think I am the only one. Despite his stellar play off the bench, I think the Lakers had enough. When Russ is in his bad moods it can absolutely drain a team.
Coach Darvin Ham and Anthony Davis both seem to have enough of Russ last night. Coach Ham and Westbrook had a quick, heated verbal exchange in the locker room during halftime of Tuesday night's game.
Ham expressed frustration with how Westbrook lingered on the playing floor after getting subbed out of the game late in the second quarter. Voices were raised in the locker room, but discussion turned back to trying to win the game against the Thunder, sources said.
If this is true, this is just unacceptable. Not because it’s bad for team chemistry, or because it’s detrimental to the team, but because it came on a night it was suppose to be all about Lebron!...Ayo!
Good luck Russ. I’m still rooting for you brother.
