President's Cup Preview And Bets #PGATour

The 2024 Presidents Cup is a four-day competition that begins on Thursday, Sept. 26. The Presidents Cup 2024 will feature 24 of the world's best golfers competing at The Royal Montreal Golf Club. Founded in 1873, The Royal Montreal Golf Club lays claim to being the oldest golf club in North America. The Presidents Cup began in 1994, and the Americans have won 12 of the 14 events, including nine straight.

Day 1 will feature five team matches played in the four-ball (best ball) format. This format is commonly known as "best ball," meaning the lowest score from the two-player team will be counted for the match.

Captain Jim Furyk has a plethora of talent to work with on Team USA. A pairing that we're likely to see for the Americans on Day 1 will be Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay. In the 2022 President Cup competition, both Schauffele and Cantlay posted 3-1 records for Team USA. The dynamic duo both boast a 6-3-0 overall record in their two President Cup appearances, giving the Americans the experience needed to get off to a quick start.

Team USA Roster:

Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Wyndham Clark, Patrick Cantlay, Sahith Theegala, Keegan Bradley, Sam Burns, Tony Finau, Brian Harman, Russell Henley, Max Homa.

International Team Roster:

Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, Adam Scott, Tom Kim, Jason Day, Byeong Hun An, Christiaan Bezuidenhout, Corey Conners, Mackenzie Hughes, Si Woo Kim, Min Woo Lee, Taylor Pendrith.

Team USA To Win 4-Ball (-175):

There’s more predictability in the fourball matches, and USA captain Jim Furyk has a well-rounded team to mix and match, including seven players who finished inside the Top 25 in adjusted scoring average on the PGA Tour last season compared to the International team that has four. Additionally, I’m anticipating more of the same from the go-to duo of Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, while Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns aren’t going winless again in 2024. Finally, I also value the Americans having six of the top seven players in the DataGolf rankings.

Team USA To Win Outright (-250):

The Americans have won 12 of 14 Presidents Cups, including 10 straight, and they’ve got the superior top-to-bottom team again in 2024. Scottie Scheffler, Xander Schauffele, and Collin Morikawa are the three best players in the event, and I particularly value what glue guys Russell Henley and Brian Harman bring in addition to the firepower of Tony Finau, Sahith Theegala, and Wyndham Clark. Patrick Cantlay and Max Homa have been next to automatic in team competition, too. Sure, it’s boring to go Red, White, and Blue, but so is golf when played at its best.
