We are officially one week into the MLB season, and most teams have played about five games since Opening Day. That means two things: it’s way too early to make definitive statements… and it’s the perfect time to make them anyway. Using early standings, game results, and team performance trends, these rankings factor in not just record, but how teams look, who’s producing, and what feels sustainable.

Let’s power rank the top 10 teams in baseball right now — starting at No. 10 and working our way to the best team in the league.

10. Miami Marlins

The Marlins sneak into the top 10 largely because of how competitive they’ve looked early on. This isn’t a team dominating headlines, but they’ve picked up key early wins and shown surprising offensive life. Young contributors are stepping up — including breakout rookie production across the league early this season — and Miami looks like a team that could hang around longer than expected.  While the roster still lacks star power compared to contenders, the early energy and timely hitting earns them a spot.

9. Seattle Mariners

Seattle lands here because they’ve been solid, not spectacular — but that’s kind of their identity. They’ve shown flashes of the balanced roster that made them a trendy pick entering the season, with a strong lineup and dependable pitching. Their offense has been productive in stretches, and with talent like Julio Rodríguez leading the way, this still feels like a team that will rise as the season goes on.  Early results haven’t been dominant, but the foundation is clearly there.

8. Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland has been one of the most exciting early teams in baseball. Rookie Chase DeLauter has already made history with a power surge to start the season, giving this lineup a jolt it didn’t have before.  Even hovering around .500 early, the Guardians have played competitive baseball against strong opponents. If the young talent continues producing like this, they could climb these rankings quickly.

7. Houston Astros

The Astros look like… the Astros. Even in a small sample size, they’ve already strung together wins and shown why they’re still one of the most consistent organizations in baseball. A recent stretch included a dominant win over Boston as part of an early-season run, reinforcing that their offense can still explode when needed.  They may not have the flashiest start, but they feel steady — and dangerous.

6. Texas Rangers

Texas has come out aggressive offensively, and it’s been one of the biggest takeaways from the first week. Their lineup is already showing power, highlighted by clutch home run production and the ability to put up runs quickly.  The concern, as always, is pitching consistency — but early on, the bats are carrying them into the top half of these rankings.

5. New York Mets

The Mets look like a completely different team from last year. Their revamped lineup has been one of the most dangerous in baseball early on, with multiple new additions already making an impact. Expectations were high coming into the season after a major roster overhaul, and through the first week, they’re backing it up.  If the pitching holds, this is a team that could climb even higher.

4. Milwaukee Brewers

Milwaukee continues to do what Milwaukee does — win games without a ton of national attention. After a strong 2025 season, they’ve carried that momentum into 2026 with a balanced roster and strong organizational depth.  They’re not flashy, but they’re efficient, and early results suggest they’re once again going to be a problem in the National League.

3. New York Yankees

The Yankees are off to a strong start despite dealing with early pitching concerns. That alone is a scary sign. The lineup, anchored by Aaron Judge, has already shown it can carry the team, and the offense has produced consistently out of the gate. Combine that with multiple early shutout performances, and this looks like a team that can win in different ways.  If the rotation stabilizes, they’re a legitimate No. 1 contender.

2. Toronto Blue Jays

Toronto has picked up right where it left off as one of the top teams in baseball. Coming off a World Series appearance, they’ve shown early that both their pitching and lineup are still elite. The addition of high-end pitching talent has already paid off, with strong early outings setting the tone for the season.  This team looks complete, and more importantly, it looks sustainable.

1. Los Angeles Dodgers

No surprise here — the Dodgers are still the standard. Even just a week into the season, they’ve shown the same combination of depth, star power, and consistency that makes them the team to beat. With a lineup featuring some of the best hitters in baseball and strong pitching performances already showing up early, they continue to separate themselves from the rest of the league.  Until proven otherwise, this is the best team in baseball.
