The NBA season tips off in 3 days, with MY Sixers traveling to Boston and the Warriors receiving their championship rings before they take on the Lakers. I’m excited about the season but I can’t helped but think about just how much more excited I’d be if the NBA had a HBO Hard Knocks Series like the NFL.
HBO hard knocks is so good that they now follow two teams a year. This year, the hit show followed the Detroit Lions around during the preseason and will start covering the Arizona Cardinals in season and in real time. Amazing stuff. Love it.
Now kids, let’s use our imagination and explore what it would be like if we had all access to some of the following teams.
The Lakers. Can I interest you in Lebron, Anthony Davis health, Thee Patrick Beverley and the Lakers new Head Coach Darvin Ham telling Russell Westbrook that he’ll be coming off the bench?
The Nets. Come on, are you serious? Ben Simmons, Kyrie Irving & Kevin Durant. My head is spinning from all the wild shit this big 3 already says to the media.
The Celtics. The Emmy winning series would have broke the NET if they captured this Ime Udoka story. Now that is the all access that the people need. Not want, NEED.
The Knicks. It’s the Knicks! Exclusives from Dolan, Spike Lee I’m sure, Jalen Brunson, Julius I can’t believe he’s still on the team Randle.
Last but certainly not least. The defending champions, of course…the Warriors. Klay would be my dark horse mvp for the series. His personality and sense of humor is the best and it’s effortless. Watching Steph’s work ethic never gets old. But the viral moment would obviously be capturing what exactly went down between Draymond Green & Jordan Poole. We’ve heard rumors about contract jokes and triple single insults, but if we had the Hard Knocks crew in the building we wouldn’t have to speculate!
And if none of these heavy hitters want to do it that’s fine, I’ll settle for Philly with Embiid, Harden and Doc behind the scenes. Or Charlotte with Michael Jeffery Jordan & LaMelo Ball. The Clippers and team owner Steve Ballmer, Paul George & the fun guy Kawhi. Pat Riley, Jimmy Butler in Miami! The new look T-Wolves and Anthony Edwards. Any Ja Morant footage. Any!
