Well… that one hurts.
Not just because Team USA lost the 2026 World Baseball Classic Final… but because of how it happened.
A game that felt like it was slipping away… suddenly came back to life… and then got ripped right back out of our hands.
And yes, for the record — I personally did everything I could to help:
4 homemade Lucky Charms rice krispy treats
A full bowl of buffalo chicken dip
If that’s not championship-level preparation, I don’t know what is.
Unfortunately… it wasn’t enough.

Final Score: Venezuela 3, USA 2
Let’s get the facts straight first.
Venezuela wins its first-ever World Baseball Classic title
Final score: 3–2
Game-winning hit: Eugenio Suárez RBI double in the 9th inning
And the biggest stat of the night?
Team USA had just THREE hits.
Three.
That’s not gonna get it done in a championship game.
USA Offense? Missing.
Let’s call it what it is.
The bats never showed up.
Shut down for most of the game
Struggled against Venezuela’s pitching staff
Couldn’t string together any real rallies
Venezuela’s pitching was elite — Eduardo Rodríguez and the bullpen combined to dominate, keeping USA off balance all night.
But still… this lineup was STACKED.
And they didn’t deliver.
Down 2–0… Then Harper Happens
For most of the night, it felt like one of those games where you’re just waiting for the final out.
Down 2–0 late… nothing going offensively…
And then…
Bryce Harper.
Bottom of the 8th.
Two-run homer.
Tie game.
Absolute American hero moment.
The stadium flipped. The energy flipped. The momentum flipped.
That’s what stars do.
And Then… The Collapse
Tie game going into the 9th.
You’re thinking:
“Alright, we stole this one”
“We’ve got the momentum”
“Let’s walk it off”
Instead…
Venezuela responds immediately.
Eugenio Suárez delivers the go-ahead RBI double in the 9th, and just like that, USA is chasing again.
No answer in the bottom half.
Ballgame.

Let’s Talk About Aaron Judge
Yeah… we gotta go there.
Aaron Judge: 0-4, 3 strikeouts
And listen — yes, it’s easy to point the finger at the captain.
And yes… it’s fair.
Because when you wear that “C” and you’re the best hitter in the lineup, this is what comes with it.
But here’s the truth:
It wasn’t just Judge.
Big names all tournament long didn’t show up consistently
The lineup never really clicked
Too many empty at-bats in big spots
Judge will take the heat — and he should — but this was a team-wide offensive failure.
Give Venezuela Their Flowers
No excuses.
The better team won tonight.
Elite pitching
Clutch hitting
Never panicked
Executed in the biggest moment
This wasn’t a fluke run either.
They beat:
Japan
Italy
USA
That’s a gauntlet.
And they earned it.
This one stings.
Not just because USA lost… but because it felt like we had it after Harper tied it.
Instead:
Venezuela celebrates
USA goes home with silver
And I’m sitting here trying to figure out where a 32-year-old white man gets cornrows
Because a bet is a bet.
I will now be:
Booting up MLB The Show
Recreating this exact game
Making sure Team USA wins the correct way

Also — if you’re comparing Aaron Judge to Big Justice on Twitter… just know I’m watching.
