Six-time Pro-Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams is signing a 2-year $46 million deal that includes $26 million guaranteed with the Los Angeles Rams.
The Rams have been a top 3 team in the NFC over the last 5-6 years. They just got better by adding the route running extraordinaire who is coming off a “mid” season with 85 catches 1,063 yard and 8TDs. That’s not a bad stat line when you factor in the season his now former team had. The Jets fired their head coach, demoted their offensive coordinator and had inconsistent quarterback play.
Many may think Adams has a fetish for old quarterbacks. While I cannot confirm or deny that, I can say his coach and quarterback in LA is very stable. He knows both McVay and Stafford, who just signed a two-year deal himself, aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. Trust me, that is very important for the 32 year old receiver. This is the age when most start looking to settle down you know. Stay horny, but stay focus.
The Cardinals, Seahawks and 49ers are all looking up at the Rams right now. If you’re the Rams, you have to be gearing up to get over the hurdle that is Philadelphia. Keep in mind, the Rams actually played the Eagles the toughest in last year’s playoffs.
The pairing of Davante and Puka Nacua will be a handful for defenses. Notice I didn’t mention Cooper Kupp. That’s because it looks like he’s going to be moving on. As a 49ers fan, I wouldn’t mind adding the veteran to the receiver group in San Fran.
Welp, best of luck Davante, but not too much luck.
