The BIG DAWG will be staying in the DAWG POUND!!!
According to Adam Schefter the Cleveland Browns and Myles Garrett reached agreement Sunday on a record contract extension that averages $40 million per year and includes $123.5 million in guaranteed money, making the star defensive end the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
I feel like we hear that statement every off season nowadays, every player gets some kind of contract that makes them the high paid non-QB every off season.
The contract also includes a no-trade clause and ties Garrett to the Browns through the 2030 season, according to sources, meaning the four-time All-Pro's path from "Cleveland to Canton" is back on.
I wont sit here and lie that I was confident he was going to get a new deal done, especially when owner Jimmy Haslem declined to meet with Garrett regarding his trade request. Both Haslem and Garrett had been playing tug of war regarding not trading him and wanting to be traded. All Garrett wants to do is win. The defense is still solid, hopefully they keep Denzel Ward in the secondary, if they can figure out a QB and find a running back in the draft since it looks like Nick Chubb will be gone.
This deal also puts pressure on divisional rivals, Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers who need to extend their All-Pro players in Ja'Marr Chase and TJ Watt.
