Clemson Tigers (-12) vs. Duke Blue Devils Preview

Week 1 of the College Football kickoff has treated me well so far, and were looking to close out Labor Day weekend with another win. For reference:

It could be a much different Labor Day experience for the ninth-ranked Clemson Tigers this season when they visit Durham, N.C. to face the Duke Blue Devils. The Tigers routed Georgia Tech 41-10 on Labor Day to kick off last season on their way to an 11-3 record. That marked their 12th straight season with double-digit victories, and they won the ACC for the seventh time in eight years. Now, the 2016 and '18 national champions are looking to get back to the College Football Playoff after settling for an Orange Bowl berth in 2022.

Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET at Wallace Wade Stadium. The Tigers are 12-point favorites in the latest SportsLine consensus Clemson vs. Duke odds, and the over/under for total points scored is 54.5.

The Pick: Clemson -12 (-110)

Clemson has one of the most dynamic running backs in the country in Will Shipley. Cade Klubnik was a five-star recruit rated just a touch behind the likes of Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields. And now they are at new offensive coordinator Garrett Riley’s disposal. Finding a way to spark the Clemson offense is part of the push in endorsing the Tigers, and Riley should have that effect immediately. He had it in his one season at TCU. Meanwhile, the defense ranked No. 10 in expected points added per play against last year.
