Graham Potter arriving at Stamford Bridge is giving off serious Thor arriving in Wakanda vibes....minus the whole half the universe getting dusted but you get my point. The attitude within the club has completely shifted from doom and gloom to fresh and organized. Potter has manged 6 games in all competitions and has won 5 of them. A key component to this turnaround is a more organized attack showcased by more shots on target. Back in the Tuchel days, Chelsea would dominate possession but never go forward with an organized attack....hence why the likes of Mason Mount and Pierre-Emrick Aubameyang have suddenly found their form as of late. It's also worth mentioning that Potter's defense has only conceded 2 goals during his tenure with the Blues and Kepa, yes that Kepa, has been playing lights out in between the pipes. Because of all the above, Potter has Chelsea sitting in 4th place.
Their opponent is the pesky Bees of Brentford that sit 9th in standings. The center piece for BFC in Ivan Toney, a man that is making a serious case for the England National team. Toney is coming off a brace against vs Brighton, which brings his season total to 8 goals. Brentford as a team have scored 18 total goals, which is 5th in the league. I believe that BFC will be able to put one in the back of the net. Brentford are 9th in the league in crosses into the box which I believe will be trouble for the Chelsea back line given the recent injury's to Fofana, James and possibly Thiago Silva. Look for Toney to get behind a cross or possibly a pk being awarded for a clumsy challenge in the box.
However, Brentford have conceded a total of 17 goals this season which is 6th most in the league. To make matters worse, the squad is dealing with a couple injuries to their mid -field and their back line. Given the form Chelsea are in, the quality of the Blues attacking the final third will be too much for Brentford as the game goes on. Look for Chelsea to win 3-1 which is sure to be an exciting derby match.
