Both these guys are scumbags, IMO. Watson is a pervert, and Wilson is an egomaniac who has as as many passing touchdowns this season, as he does bathrooms in his house. It has also come out that Wilson has his own office and private parking spot at the Broncos facility. Watson was also suspended 11 games this season for being criminally horny, making his return week 13 against his former team, the Houston Texans.
Before we get into their horrific seasons, lets compare the contracts they before received heading into the 2022 season.
Russell Wilson signed a 5 year, $242,588,236 contract with the Denver Broncos, including a $50,000,000 signing bonus, $161,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $48,517,647. Age 32.
Deshaun Watson signed a 5 year, $230,000,000 contract with the Cleveland Browns, including a $44,965,000 signing bonus, $230,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $46,000,000. Age 27.
Both are huge contracts and almost identical, except Cleveland fully guaranteed Watsons contract. Watson is 5 years younger, hasn't played in 2 years, has fresh legs and if he can hold off on getting rubbed down by the team trainer his future is brighter. The Browns were 4-7 under Jacoby Brissett, and Browns fan believed that when Watson came back they would have a chance to make the playoffs if they could finish 9-8. However, Watson has played average at best, and during his 2-2 record this season, the Browns defense has been the bigger offensive presence.
Russel Wilson isn't the same player he was 2-3 years ago, he no longer can beat the defense with his legs, he's getting tackled from behind, no longer elusive out of the pocket, some may say he's seeing "ghosts". Also why the fuck does Wilson need an office at the Broncos facility. Something changed when he started making those subway commercials that never even made it to TV. I honestly believe the Broncos would've been better with Drew Lock this year.
I think the Browns end up better off, especially as Watson gets more reps and back into the flow of the game. Denver is fucked with Russel Wilson though, can't imagine his teammates liking him, all the stories that came out this year are very cringy. Teammates didn't go to his birthday, he doesn't give his teammates his cell #, the office, just thinking he's better than everyone else. Worst of all, Denvers pick in the 2023 NFL draft which is currently slated to be 3rd overall, is now Seattles because they gave it up to get Russ.
