The Spurs and Victor Wembanyama Both Win Tonight!

Tonight the San Antonio Spurs pulled the number one pick in the 2023 NBA draft. The Spurs, Rockets and Pistons were all tied with the best odds to land the top pick followed by the Hornets and Blazers.

The Spurs will likely take the top NBA prospect in Victor Wembanyama. The NBA hasn’t buzzed about a prospect like this since Lebron James and rightfully so. The 19-year-old French pro can do it all at 7-foot-5. Don’t believe me? YouTube him and then tell me what you think.

The other winner tonight perhaps were the Hornets. They jumped up and landed the 2nd pick and have the likely choice between prospects Scott Henderson and Brandon Miller.

With that said, boy did Victor luck up going to an organization like San Antonio instead of Charlotte.

Wembanyama has to feel good about him likely going to a 5-time champion organization. A franchise who drafted Tim Duncan and David Robinson with the number one pick. A franchise led by Greg Popovich. An organization that has had great success with foreign born players which include Frenchmen, Tony Parker and Boris Diaw.

The Spurs are back. Maybe not next year despite Victor saying tonight, “I’m looking to win a ring asap”, but I’ll say 2-3 years before they are making a deep run. Victor seems like a player you want to play with and Coach Pop is someone you want to play for. Congratulations San Antonio.
