Coming from an individual that listens to the most depressing music every day of their life, Taylor Swift just added 20 songs to the pile. Midnights, the name of Taylor's 10th studio album is an absolute banger. How did I spend my Thursday night? It wasn't watching football and losing thousands on Fanduel I can tell you that. I poured myself a couple glasses of chilled rosè, bundled up in my snuggy, and put my AirPods in to listen to this masterpiece.
I definitely wouldn't consider myself the biggest "Swifty" out there but after this album I went down a rabbit hole of Taylor's essentials and now I am broken again. Demon time is back and better than ever. When I walked into the gym on Friday a close friend of mine saw the look in my eyes as I was doing hamstring curls and he says, "They're back dave aren't they? The demons". Sure, I laughed for a minute but then I realized Taylor destroyed me. It's been months since Harry's House which also put me in a blender but I've been doing good, back on my Avicii shit, little Eminem here and there, Machine Gun Kelly on repeat, I mean for Christ sake "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" has been my alarm for 3 weeks, things were finally turning around.
Back to the album though, the first song that I came across was "You're On Your Own, Kid" and oh my lord. I mean I was ready to crawl in a whole and not talk to anyone ever agin. Did I cry? You bet your ass I cried, when I heard "'cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned..." there was just a small tear that fell from my fat face onto my phone. The whole album had me on an emotional rollercoaster, "Sweet Nothing, Anti-Hero, Lavender Haze, Midnight Rain" just had me down tremendously bad. But for real, now I'm back on demon time and you can thank Taylor Swift for that.
