Sunday NHL/NBA Playoffs Recap

For the Sunday NHL Slate we had game 3 of Carolina/New Jersey, Toronto/Florida, and Dallas/Seattle.

Carolina/New Jersey:

The Devils shit pumped Carolina yesterday as they took their first game of the series at home with an 8-4 win. 2019 first overall pick, Jack Hughes showed out with a stat line of 2 goals and 2 assists. Some are saying that Hughes sacrificed one of his front teeth to unlock demon mode, others are saying that his younger brother Luke (4th overall pick in 2021), making his NHL playoff debut was the secret sauce. Either way, the Devils handled business at home to keep them in this series. Timo Meier, who was acquired at the trade deadline, and Nico Hischier both got their first goal of the post season.

Toronto/Florida:

After finally getting over the hump and getting past the first round, Toronto now finds themselves down 3-0 to Florida in round two. Exorcising the demon that is the Tampa Bay Lightning, only to walk into a white-hot Panthers team who is just punishing the Leafs at every turn. They also have had 0 offensive production from their "Core Four". These guys make a combined $40.5 million per year. 4 guys making damn near half of the Leafs' entire salary for the year. Give me $750k and I got top shelf at least once a series, would also prob have 20 penalty minutes per game.

Dallas/Seattle:

Are the Kraken a wagon? 14 goals in 3 games so far. Matty Beniers and Eeli Tolivanen headlined a massive night for the offence with a goal and an assist each as the Seattle Kraken defeated the Dallas Stars 7-2, to take a 2-1 lead in their second-round playoff series. Paul "Miss the net" Bissonette on the TBS broadcast suggested that the building was dark which contributed to the goaltending misfires but uh…personally I thought they got some great looks and that building was plenty bright; they just couldn’t get saves.

On to the NBA slate.

Philadelphia/Boston:

This series has been electric and I hope it goes the distance of 7 games. Resident CMS member, Big Neef, is still hungover from his 76ers big win, so ya boy had to hit the fans with an unbiased recap. The Sixers did everything we have come to know and hate them to do in situations like this. They had a huge lead late in a must-win game. Thank god for James Harden. The 6ers didnt look good, in the 4th quarter, Embiid looked gassed, but James Harden continues to be as clutch as they come in these playoffs, and now we have a best-of-3 on our hands here. Shout out PJ Tucker for getting in Embiids face and ripping into him, felt like that gave him a second wind and was able to find a wide open Harden late in OT for the game winning 3 pointer.

Denver/Phoenix:

Glad to see Devin Booker hasn't been effected by the "Kardashian Kurse" because he has gone supernova this playoffs. Devin Booker (36 points, six rebounds, playoff career-high 12 assists) and Kevin Durant (36 points, 11 rebounds, six assists) combine for 72 points as the No. 4 seed Suns defeat the No. 1 seed Nuggets in Game 4, 129-124. Nikola Jokic tallied a playoff career-high 53 points (20-30 FG), along with 11 assists, and 1 shove against the Suns owner. If the Suns can steal game 5 in Denver, I think they can take this series. Oh, and if Chris Paul doesn't play again.
