NCAA CFB Kick Off Weekend

College football is officially back and I have been preparing for month for this moment. Just putting in the work this off season. We got off to a hot start last night, Utah -5 (-110) & Nebraska +7 (-110), double downed and sprinkled the Minnesota ML as they won by 3.

Going to break down the Friday night college football slate and my gambling card for the night:

Central Michigan at Michigan State: u45

Central Michigan has a solid defense for a mid-major as well, and with the Michigan State offense facing a lot of questions, the Spartans will likely struggle to blow out the Chippewas. With neither team looking likely to score a ton of points here, I’m confident in taking the Under.

Miami(OH) at Miami: Miami (Ohio) +16 -110

Miami of Florida is the better team. The Canes have more talent and more depth and will win outright, but I don’t see them running away with this. They’re playing a team with a strong, cohesive defensive unit and they ranked 96th in scoring offense last season while being held to 17 or fewer points on five different occasions. While I don’t think that happens here, I do think their offense takes long enough to find consistent rhythm that it keeps the game close.

Louisville at Georgia Tech: Georgia Tech +7.5 -110

Jeff Brohm's tenure at Louisville could ultimately be a very successful one but he has a complicated offensive scheme he's introducing to a roster full of freshmen and transfers. With Georgia Tech featuring a strong enough defense to cause trouble, particularly against the pass, the spread can easily be covered.

Stanford at Hawaii: Stanford -3 -110

The biggest Stanford cynic around these parts backing the Cardinal in Week 1? Consider that evidence this number has fallen too far. Yes, Hawaii played well in Week 0. Yes, Vanderbilt rushed for only 65 yards on 23 carries, sacks adjusted. But it could just be that the Commodores played poorly. Not to mention, the Rainbows were just as one-dimensional. Let’s fade an overreaction.
