Lebron James and JJ Redick released their second episode of the Mind the Game podcast yesterday and here's my quick review:
JJ has to speed the intro up. It took over 13 minutes for Redick to explain what’s to come.
I have no issues with the information at all. In fact, I think there’s a void in basketball media for a show like this but it has to be delivered in a more fun way. More creative visuals for the intro & JJ notes.
Lebron doesn’t even give a fuck if he comes off arrogant. There were 2-3 times I cringed at him telling us just how smart he is or how he vetoed a play call against the Clippers. Bro, find a cooler way to share that information.
Lebron told an incredible lie this episode. It will not get any traction but he said “I hated Duke, but I loved watching you” to JJ. Lebron, the two are impossible to do. You either hated Duke and JJ or you loved Duke and JJ. It’s fundamentally impossible bud.
After two episodes, it’s clear this podcast is predominantly for players and coaches, at every level. With that said, you still can present the show in a more fun way, in order to keep everyone’s attention.
Last but not least, this was a very detailed breakdown of offensive plays and coverages yet again which I appreciate.
I’m looking forward to episode three and to see if there are any tweaks.
