In todays #NFL, and just sports in general, athletes and fans like to throw around the word "Him" to classify players. When you bring up Justin Jefferson, he is not only HIM, he is THAT DUDE, and that boy is DIFFERENT.
Last night the Minnesota Vikings went to the "Linc" to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Coming off a week 1 loss to the Buccaneers, in which JJ had 134 yards....in the first half, only to have two catches in the second half.
Jefferson is only 24 and is already in legendary receiver status, pending he doesn't get hurt, his name may be at the top of the list of receiving yards all time.
In a 34-28 loss last night, he finished with 11 catches and a 159 yards (14.5yds/catch). Jefferson tied Hall of Fame receiver Lance Alworth for the fewest games needed to reach 5,000 career receiving yards. Both players reached that mark in their 52nd game. Jefferson also joined Hall of Famer and former Viking, Randy Moss as the only players to reach 5,000 career receiving yards before turning 25.
It doesn't stop there. This isn't a record but more of a dig at their division rival Chicago Bears, but JJ has more receiving yards than any receiver in Bears history.
He is on pace to have 2,627 yards this season after two games. Yeah it's easy to do the "this player is on pace for this many yards" thing but I do think he has a legitimate shot to surpass 2000 yards this season. To break his own personal best of 1,809 yards, Jefferson will need to average 106.5 yards per game. To hit 1,965 and break Johnson's record, he'll need 115.6 yards per game. To surpass 2,000, he'll need to hit 117.6 yards a game. Added note, I think he does it in 16 games so the haters don't cry "wahhhh they get an extra game, back in my day they would only play 16 games a season, wahhhhhhh".
Btw, it's a contract year for JJ...and the Vikings didn't feel the need to extend him before this season. Money is clearly no issue for him though, judging by how he chucked his chain off the field after it snapped off his neck.
Watching the rest of the game, the CMS group chat was going off and Dr. Data asked a dumb question "wait I thought his chain fell off, how does he still have one on?" Smh, as a chain aficionado I could tell you that you never only wear one chain. Always have a minimum of two on at all times. Sometimes you gotta bump it up to 3 or 4, and maybe even the RARE 5 chains, depends on the vibes.
Anyway the Vikings need to pay this man immediately, he's gotta go hit the jeweler and get his neck right.
I will leave you with this....Kirk Cousins could be traded, hes in the final year of his deal. Jets trade Cousins for Rodgers trade up. Rodgers completes the cycle of Brett Favre by finishing with the Vikings. Just saying, you neva know!
