Coach Robert Saleh says QB Mike White was not medically cleared for contact and will not play Sunday.....QB Zach Wilson will start.
The pretty boy is back, despite Mike White being an absolute warrior and wanting to start Sunday against the Detroit Lions but team doctors haven't cleared him for contact. This has to suck for Jets fans as well as Jets players. When Wilson was benched after his comments after losing to the Patriots 10-3 on Nov. 20th. After Mike White got the start and picked apart the Bears, his teammates showed up the following week rocking Mike White tshirts in support of the new QB1.
Now that Mike White hasn't been cleared to play this weekend, Zach Wilson will be starting and this is a bad move. He lost the locker room not only from his inconsistent play on the field, but from his post game comments.
"Q: As an offense though, I mean, you guys are only able to score three points, the defense only lets up three points. Do you feel like you let the defense down at all?
Zach Wilson: No. No."
Not the words of a winner or having any accountability after his stat line was 9/22 for 77 yards. The Jets sit "On the bubble" of the playoffs as the 4th seed in the AFC East with a 7-6 record. They head into Detroit this weekend to face the Lions who are playing as a top 5 NFC team over the last few months and this is how I imagine Zach Wilson shows up this week.
The Jets defense is playing at an elite level, but I dont believe Zach Wilson will be able to do enough offensively to win this game. With 4 weeks left in the regular season and their remaining schedule being the Lions, Jags, Seahawks, and Dolphins, I believe the Jets would need to go 3-1 to make the playoffs. So unless they beat the Jags, Seahawks, and Dolphins they aint making the playoffs.
After seeing reports that Wilson still has terrible throwing mechanics and has not been working to become a more accurate passer, it will be a sad sad day for Jets fan this Sunday. Now HAMMER the Lions (-1.5), might even increase that to -3 and watch my close personal friend Jared Goff take home a W this week. I am making Detroit the "Young Horn's lock of the century...of the week"
