For a team that has been making waves in the league but falling short to the Chiefs and Bengals, the Buffalo Bills and Josh Allen are officially frauds. This offseason, the Bills were once again ranked as one of the top teams in the NFL, and could find themselves back in the Super Bowl this year. After last night's loss to the Denver Broncos (let's rideeeeee), they may not even make the playoffs.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen had a blunt assessment of his team's 24-22 loss to the Denver Broncos on Monday night. Allen told reporters the Bills, who committed four turnovers and had two fumbles that were recovered, played "a lot of bad football." Allen hasn't been a stranger to turnovers throughout his career, and ESPN noted, the Bills quarterback now leads the NFL with 11 interceptions after throwing picks in six straight contests, which is the franchise's longest streak since 2011.
We now have to have the discussion about if Josh Allen is an elite top tier NFL gunslinger, or if he may not know how to read defenses. There has been the memes about Patrick Mahomes "fuck it Tyreek Hill down there somewhere" as he just launches a ball deep and hope his receiver comes down with it. However, Josh Allen seems to just not give a fuck. Whether its putting his shoulder down as he tries to extend a play with his legs and fumbles, or just thinking he can use his rocket arm to throw through defenders bodies, whatever it is, it's not working.
In a league where ball security, is job security, Allen needs to figure it the fuck out. I am not saying he will be benched or not be a winning NFL QB, but his current streak of consecutive games with INT's and a .500 record should have the Bills hovering their finger over the panic button. Maybe for the first time since the playoff loss to the Houston Texans at the end of the 2019 season when we really didn’t know what to make of Allen, he is being looked at as one of the primary reasons for the collapse of the offense.
The Bills are currently half a game behind the Texans for the final wild card in the AFC, and a game and a half behind the Dolphins in the AFC East. Allen thinks there’s still time to turn it around, but not a lot of time.
