Hard Knocks is back! Tonight episode one of the new season of HBO’s hit series aired. This season features the New York Jets.
First I want to say, shut up to all of the Jets fans who didn’t want to “jinx” the season by being on Hard Knocks. You are Jets fans. You have one championship and that was in 1969. Trust me, if you don’t win it all this year it’s not because of the extra cameras on the practice field.
Rather than do a full blog I wanted to share some of my takeaways…aka…do a full blog I guess. So here are my takeaways after episode one:
Every Jet is all in on Rodgers, as they should be. Even the coaches are giddy around him. I think Hard Knocks did a good job of capturing the buzz around the 4X MVP.
Following Zack Wilson through this series is going to be…interesting. For the record, I was never a fan of the Jets drafting him with the second overall pick. I don’t know how he jumped a player like Justin Fields because he throws a pretty ball during the underwear Olympics. Mistakes like this happen when you have too much time in between the last college game and the NFL draft.
Arguably the best thing the Jets have done in recent history is the drafting of Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson. These two are the real deal. I hope we continue to get a look at their battles in practice. The Jets really need to win before they have to pay these guys.
Nathaniel Hackett and Russell Wilson was never going to work. Hackett has Pete Carroll energy with none of the accolades. With that said, Sean Payton is a prick for going after him the way he did. Payton called Hackett’s job last year as Denver’s head coach “one of the worst jobs” he’d ever seen. Payton is overrated. He’s literally Mike McCarthy with a bigger mouth and will have to eat his words week 5 when Denver faces the Jets. Google “what year did Sean Payton win a championship?” and then google “what year did Mike McCarthy win a championship?” Told you!
Sauce Gardner is very close to 6’5 and I don’t care what anyone says. Dude towers over teammates.
Hard Knocks covered the Hall of Fame game. And of course Rodgers was literally in Zach Wilson’s ear telling him who to throw to during Wilson’s best throw of the night.
“We got to work on our manifestation powers, we’re not positive enough”. - Aaron Rodgers. He’s right about this. It might take some time getting everyone to believe they’re winners!
Good luck Jets!
