It appears that Conor McGregor still has that famed power. What was supposed to be a fun bit turned into a serious situation for the man who plays the role of Burnie, the Miami Heat's mascot. The man was reportedly hospitalized and placed on pain medication after taking a punch from UFC star Conor McGregor. The man who plays Burnie, according to The Athletic, received pain medication, was sent home and is doing well.
The incident occurred in the third quarter of Game 4. McGregor, who was promoting a pain relief spray, squared up with Burnie while the mascot was in full boxing regalia, then leveled him with a left hook to the head. McGregor followed up with another punch to the head as Burnie lied on the ground, then hit him with the pain spray.
McGregor, the first fighter in UFC history to hold simultaneous championships in two different weight classes, is serving as a coach in Season 31 of "The Ultimate Fighter" reality television show. McGregor has not competed since breaking his left leg in a fight with Dustin Poirier in July 2021.
McGregor was one of several celebrities present at Kaseya Center, sporting a shiny red tracksuit. Baltimore Ravens wideout Odell Beckham Jr., soccer stars Neymar, Vinicius Jr. and Paul Pogba were present - in addition to music artists Lil Wayne, G-Eazy, J Balvin and Flo Rida. The variety of stars witnessed the Denver Nuggets close to within a game of the NBA title with an assured 108-95 victory on the road.
