The League Championship Series' have not disappointed so far this MLB Postseason. With the Texas Rangers beating the Houston Astros last night, with the winner heading to the World Series. The Rangers will meet the winner of Game 7 of the NLCS, the Phillies or D-backs, in Game 1 of the World Series set for Friday at Globe Life Field.
The Rangers advance to the World Series for the third time in franchise history and the first time since 2011. They jumped all over the Astros from the start, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. The Rangers busted the game open with a four-run fourth inning to expand their lead to 8-2.
Texas right fielder Adolis García, who was at the center of a benches-clearing incident after being hit by a pitch in Game 5, was an easy choice for ALCS MVP. García went 4 for 5 at the plate Monday with two home runs and five RBIs. García cranked five home runs in the last four games of the series, homering in each game in that span to carry the Rangers to the American League crown. All four of the Rangers’ wins in the series came on the road at Houston’s Minute Maid Park, where the Astros have struggled all season.
The Rangers will be seeking their first ever World Series championship after falling short in the franchise’s two previous appearances. The Rangers made it to back-to-back World Series in 2010 and 2011, losing to the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals respectively.
The World Series is scheduled to begin Friday in Arlington, Texas. Still waiting to see who comes out of the NL.
GAME. SEVEN.
Game 7s take each of those elements and supercharge them. Sports exist for series that go the distance. The last time both championship series in a full season went to Game 7s was 2004, and both series were all-timers.
Philadelphia won't make it easy. For a team that was undefeated at home throughout this postseason, until last night. The same mashers who have pummeled 10 home runs this series -- Bryce Harper, Kyle Schwarber, Trea Turner, J.T. Realmuto and Nick Castellanos -- will look to add to the total. Nick Castellanos has struggled mightily since Game 1, but Realmuto has hit this month and would be a logical candidate as a right-handed bat behind Harper.
In a series that it felt like Philly would runaway with after the first two games, now comes down to one more. Meet me at the Bank tonight.
