Are The Brooklyn Nets #Back?

The #BrooklynNets have won 9 in a row, Kevin Durant just passed Tim Duncan to sit at 15th all time on the NBA all-time scoring list. Durant is now at 26,516 points after this game. Before the end of the season Durant likely passes Dominique Wilkins (26,668), Oscar Robertson (26,710) and Hakeem Olajuwon (26,946), too. This has to be one of the biggest highlights for the Nets since KD and Kyrie joined the team. The turmoil surrounding this team since both these All-Stars joined a few years ago. Let's ignore that Kyrie is a flat earth supported, anti-vaxxer, and anti-semite and focus on they way they're playing on the court.

When there are no outside distractions, no coaching carousel, everyone is healthy, and the boys are just hoopin', the Brooklyn Nets are a VERY good team. 9 wins in a row, 13-1 in their last 14 games, and now sit in 3rd place in the east after their 125-117 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers Monday Night, KD and Kyrie both dropping 32pts.

Although during this win streak they have played a softer scheduler to start this streak, but with wins over the Bucs and Cavs, they have shown they can compete with the best teams in the East. With all their wins currently, everyone is waiting for the other shoe to drop and some form of self destruction to happen soon. “When we step into the gym every single day it’s about basketball,” the Nets’ new coach Jacque Vaughn said. “How we’re going to take care of each other on the floor, cover for each other on the floor, it’s about basketball.”

“I’m not saying we didn’t struggle, but we always were focused on playing basketball,” Durant said. “I think the other people were trying to look for stuff to put on our team, label, our team, whatever. I know the Kyrie stuff (is) maybe what you’re talking about, but I felt like we’ve always been about the game, all of us.” KD spoke on their current streak and mentioned the distractions that have been involved.

The East has been stacked lately. Boston has been coming back to reality of late, but still have an MVP candidate in Jayson Tatum, same with the Bucs and Giannis. Cavs are a solid young team, led by Donovan Mitchell that seem to have some great chemistry and will be a tough matchup in a 7 game series. Don't look now, the 76ers have also won 8 straight. Knicks had a fun win streak and will eventually come back down from their fairy tale run as they sit at 6th in the East. Over the last couple of years, the Eastern conference has been very top heavy and you assume Boston, Milwaukee, Philly, and what used to be Miami would be the favorites to take the east. If the Nets can keep the distractions away, and continue to hoop. They have the roster to take the East. I won't believe that until they get to the playoffs, because Kyrie will have some kind of melt down before then.
